Stages are the building blocks of Assessments and Contests in CoderScout. Each stage is designed to evaluate specific skills with evidence through a structured workflow.

Assessments and contests can consist of a single stage or multiple stages organized into a pipeline.

Stage Categories​

CoderScout organizes stages into four functional categories based on their role in the hiring process.

Screening Stages​

Used early in the funnel to filter candidates based on baseline qualifications or theoretical knowledge.

  • Profile Screening: Automated resume evaluation and scoring.
  • MCQ: Structured multiple-choice questions with automated scoring.

Skill Evaluation Stages​

Hands-on stages where candidates complete tasks in a production-like environment.

  • Programming: Coding challenges in a full-featured IDE supporting multiple languages.
  • Application: Web and API development tasks with unit test validation.
  • SQL: Database query execution and validation against expected datasets.
  • Notebook: Data science and analysis tasks in a Jupyter-style environment.
  • dbt: Data transformation workflows using dbt models.

Interview Stages​

Captures verbal communication and behavioral signals through asynchronous or live formats.

  • AI Interview: Fully automated, voice-based interviews driven by AI.
  • Video Response: Recorded video answers to specific prompts.
  • Interview: Live, synchronized interview sessions for final evaluations.

Engagement Stages​

Used for communication and information sharing.

  • Pre-placement Talk: Presentation-style stages typically used in campus or mass hiring drives.

Shared Capabilities​

Across most stage types, CoderScout provides consistent infrastructure for evaluation and integrity.
