What this stage is
Profile Screening is an optional, resume-based screening stage used to evaluate candidate fit before inviting them to skill-based assessment stages.
It allows organizations to filter candidates based on experience, skills, and role fit, without manual resume review.
When to use it
Use Profile Screening when:
- Resume relevance is critical for the role
- You receive a large number of applications
- You want to filter candidates before assessments
- Hiring Managers / SMEs should not review resumes manually

How it works
- Upload resumes individually or as a batch (ZIP supported)
- Resumes are parsed to extract structured data
- Define one or more screening criteria in natural language
- Assign weightage to each criterion

In the Assessment Creation workflow, Profile Screening is automatically established as the entry-level stage.

Configuring Resume Scoring
Within the stage configuration modal, you can toggle the Resume Scoring feature to automate the initial candidate evaluation.

Setting Evaluation Criteria
Once scoring is enabled, you can define specific skills or experience criteria and assign a relative Weightage to each. This allows the system to calculate a precise suitability score for every applicant based on their resume data.

Each resume is scored out of 100 based on weighted criteria.
As illustrated in the multi-stage assessment workflow below, once a candidate's profile screening score meets the defined threshold, CoderScout automatically issues an assessment invitation. After completing the initial login setup, candidates progress through the assessment in "auto-pilot" mode, completing all automated stages until they reach manual milestones, such as the technical interview round shown in this example.
