Credits & Pricing Basics

CoderScout uses a credit-based system to manage candidate assessments. This ensures you only pay for the evaluations you actually conduct, providing flexibility across different types of recruitment needs.

What are Credits?

Credits are the internal currency of CoderScout. Instead of charging a flat fee per candidate, we use credits to account for the varying technical resources and infrastructure required for different challenge types (e.g., a simple Quiz vs. a high-performance Jupyter Notebook environment).

How Credits are Consumed

CoderScout uses credits for each specific stage a candidate is invited to complete. Since an assessment can include multiple stages, credits are only used for the particular steps you ask a candidate to take.

Consumption Rates by Stage Type

Stage/Challenge TypeCredit Cost (per candidate)
Pre-Placement Talk0 Credits

Video Response2 Credits
AI Interview4 Credits (per 30-minute block)

Example Calculation

If you invite 20 candidates to a Programming Challenge (5 credits each), your account will be debited 100 credits.

Reclaiming Credits (No-Show Policy)

We understand that not every invited candidate will appear for the assessment. If a candidate's attempt status remains "Not Started" or becomes a "No Show" (based on your stage's start deadline), these credits are not lost.

How to Reclaim:

  1. Navigate to the Billing Section of your dashboard.
  2. View the usage report for the specific Assessment or Contest.
  3. Identify candidates with "Not Started" or "No Show" status.
  4. Use the Reclaim option to return those credits to your active balance.

Managing Your Credits

1. Recurring Subscriptions

  • Monthly Billing: Credits are allocated periodically based on your billing cycle. We use Razorpay to manage these cycles, meaning it follows standard calendar billing (automatically handling months with fewer days like February) rather than a strict 30-day count.
  • Yearly Billing (10% Discount): Save 10% by opting for annual billing. Credits are added to your account upon each successful annual payment deduction.

2. Add-on Top-ups

In addition to your subscription, you can purchase Top-up Credits anytime to handle unexpected hiring surges. These have the same carry-over benefits as subscription credits.

Retention and Policies

Do Credits Expire?

No. All unused credits (both subscription and top-up) remain in your account and carry over to the next billing cycle. They only expire if your account becomes inactive.

Subscription Cancellation

You can cancel your recurring subscription at any time through the billing dashboard. Upon cancellation, you will retain access to your remaining credits until they are consumed or your account is deactivated.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if I run out of credits during a live contest?

Candidates currently working within a stage will not be interrupted. However, if your balance reaches zero, candidates will be unable to start a new stage or begin a new assessment. As soon as you top up your credits, candidates can immediately pick up exactly where they left off without any loss of progress.

Can I share credits between different Workspaces?

Credits are managed at the Tenant level. If you have an Enterprise plan with multiple Workspaces, your credit pool is shared across all sub-divisions, allowing for centralized billing management.
