Auto-Progression & Decision Logic
Auto-Progression: Designed for Assessments
Auto-Progression is a core mechanism in CoderScout that allows Assessments to run end-to-end with minimal human involvement.
It is intentionally designed for Assessments and is typically not enabled for Contests.
How Auto-Progression Works in Assessments
When Auto-Progression is enabled at the assessment level:
Each stage can be configured with:
- which score to use (Score or AI Score)
- a cutoff threshold (percentage)
- outcome if the candidate scores below the threshold:
- Reject
- Put On Hold
Candidates who meet or exceed the threshold automatically receive the next stage.
Why This Matters
Auto-Progression ensures:
- Hiring Managers / SMEs are involved only when needed
- Interviews happen only after evidence-based screening
- Pipelines move forward without scheduling friction
This turns assessments into a true auto-pilot funnel.
Why Auto-Progression Is Usually Off in Contests
In Contests:
- All candidates complete stages simultaneously
- Scores and AI Scores are reviewed together
- Cheating indicators and distributions are inspected
Manual progression preserves fairness at scale.
Key Takeaway
Auto-Progression is the mechanism that allows CoderScout to replace manual screening with structured decision logic, especially for lateral hiring.
